FACIAL MASK
Masks are generally classified as warm
of cold.
A good mask will have the
following qualities:
i) Must be safe to use and non-toxic.
ii) Should be smooth and contain no gritty particles and should be of a consistency that spreads over the face easily.
iii) Should be removed easily with sponges and tepid water. If peeling type mask is used, it must peel off the face without causing discomfort to client.
iv) Should produce toning and tightening sensation to the skin.
v) After removal of the mask, the skin should feel clean, stimulated firm smooth and refreshed.
vi) Some masks absorb and remove excess surface oils from skin.
TYPE OF MASKS:
i) Clay mask - using clay ingredients such as kaolin and Fuller's earth.
ii) Peel of mask - These masks are based on rubber, was or some type of plastic. When they have hardened on the skin they are peeled of in on piece.Taking surface dirt and dead skin cells with them.
iii) Heating mask- hot mask applied over gauze.
iv) Biological mask- using natural ingredients such as vegetables, fruits and eggs.
v) Wax mask- such a paraffin wax mask.
vi) Colloidal mask- using gum tragacanth
for acne, blemished and diseases or scarred skins.
vii) Rubber mask- used on oily skin.
viii) Oil mask- such a almond oil/olive mask. Used to increase the skin's capacity to absorb the oil.
INGREDIENTS IN FACE MASK &
THEIR EFFECTS:
Active Ingredients(Wet Ingredients)
Rose Water
Gives mask a nice smell.
Suitable for normal/sensitive skins.
Orange Flower Water
Has a slightly stimulating effect on skin. Gives mask a nice smell.
Suitable for normal to oily skins.
Glycerine
Produces a moisturizing effect.It is a humectants for dehydrated skin, dry skin.
Witch Hazel
Has a drying and extremely stimulating, refining effect on skin.Produces a desquamating action on surface of skin.Soothes as astringent effect.
Suitable for oily skins.
Olive Oil
A heavy oil with softening, non stimulating effect on skin. Enriches and nourises the skin. Absorbs the burning ultra violet rays of sun.
Suitable for very dry mature skin.
